1、在常用数字中 In common numbers

1）用“二”不用“两” Use "二" instead of "两"：

二 (èr) - two

二十 (èr shí) - twenty

二十万 (èr shí wàn) - two hundred thousand

2）可用“二”可用“两” Both "二" and "两" can be used:

两百 (liǎng bǎi) / 二百 (èr bǎi) - two hundred

二百万 (èr bǎi wàn) / 两百万 (liǎng bǎi wàn) - two million

3）可用“二”可用“两”，但更常用“两”Both "二" and "两" can be used, but "两" is more common:

两千 (liǎng qiān) - two thousand

两万 (liǎng wàn) - twenty thousand

两千万 (liǎng qiān wàn) - twenty million

2、多位数中的个位数、分数、小数，用“二” In the ones place of multi-digit numbers, fractions, and decimals, use "二":

92: 九十二 (jiǔ shí èr) - ninety-two

172: 一百七十二 (yī bǎi qī shí èr) - one hundred seventy-two

2）分数 fractions

1/2: 二分之一 (èr fēn zhī yī) - one half

2/5: 五分之二 (wǔ fēn zhī èr) - two fifths

3）小数 decimals

57.2: 五十七点二 (wǔ shí qī diǎn èr) - fifty-seven point two

47.2: 四十七点二 (sì shí qī diǎn èr) - forty-seven point two

732.2: 七百三十二点二 (qī bǎi sān shí èr diǎn èr) - seven hundred thirty-two point two

3、在序数中，我们也用“二”In ordinal numbers, we also use "二 (èr)"：

第二 (dì èr) - second

第二十 (dì èr shí) - twentieth

第一，第二，第三...... (dì yī, dì èr, dì sān) - first, second, third...

例子：

（1）这次考试，她是第一，我是第二。

Zhè cì kǎoshì, tā shì dì yī, wǒ shì dì èr

In this exam, she is first, and I am second.

（2）我喜欢中文有非常多的原因，第一，我非常喜欢学习语言；第二，我觉得中文非常有意思；第三，我以后想去中国留学。

Wǒ xǐhuān zhōngwén yǒu fēicháng duō de yuányīn, dì yī, wǒ fēicháng xǐhuān xuéxí yǔyán; dì èr, wǒ juéde zhōngwén fēicháng yǒuyìsi; dì sān, wǒ yǐhòu xiǎng qù Zhōngguó liúxué

4、在量词前用“两” Use "两" before measure words:

两个人 (liǎng gè rén) - two people

两棵树 (liǎng kē shù) - two trees

两次 (liǎng cì) - two times

两页 (liǎng yè) - two pages

两年 (liǎng nián) - two years

例子：

（1）我有两个哥哥。

Wǒ yǒu liǎng gè gēge

I have two older brothers.

（2）我家门前有两棵树。

Wǒ jiā mén qián yǒu liǎng kē shù

There are two trees in front of my house.

5、指称某些成双成对的亲属或事物，用“两” When referring to certain pairs of relatives or things, use "两"：

1）亲属 relatives

两姐妹 (liǎng jiěmèi) - two sisters

两兄弟 (liǎng xiōngdì) - two brothers

两夫妻 (liǎng fūqī) - A married couple

例子：

（1）这两姐妹经常吵架。

Zhè liǎng jiěmèi jīngcháng chǎojià

These two sisters often argue.

2）两半儿、两块儿、两岸、两边、两面这样的词 In words like 两半儿 (two halves), 两块儿 (two pieces), 两岸 (two shores), 两边 (both sides), and 两面 (two sides), "两" is also used：

两半儿 (liǎng bànr) - two halves

两块儿 (liǎng kuàir) - two pieces

两岸 (liǎng àn) - two shores

两边 (liǎng biān) - both sides

两面 (liǎng miàn) - two sides

例子：

（1）妈妈把西瓜切成了两半儿。

Māma bǎ xīguā qiē chéng le liǎng bànr

Mom cut the watermelon into two halves.
